TAXES & SPENDING

The Real Cost of Massachusetts' Migrant Crisis: Who's Paying the Bill?
Every Scituate family pays Massachusetts taxes. And right now, a significant chunk of that money is going somewhere most residents know nothing about. The state is on track to spend $1.8 billion over two years on emergency migrant shelter — roughly $3,496 per family per week. With an estimated 355,000 illegal and inadmissible migrants in Massachusetts, the long-term costs represent what policy experts call a fiscal time bomb. No vote was taken. No referendum was held. Scituate residents were never asked.
ACCOUNTABILITY

Beacon Hill vs. The People: The Fight to Audit Our Legislature
In November 2024, 72% of Massachusetts voters passed Question 1 — authorizing State Auditor Diana DiZoglio to audit the state Legislature. Beacon Hill's response? Defiance. House Speaker Mariano and Senate President Spilka refused to comply. When DiZoglio filed suit, Attorney General Andrea Campbell — a fellow Democrat — moved to have the case dismissed. This is what happens when one party controls every lever of government with zero opposition.

One-Party Rule
Why This Election Matters: One-Party Rule Isn't Working
When Democrats control every lever of Massachusetts government — the Governor's office, the Legislature, and the Attorney General — there is no opposition to slow bad policy, no check on runaway spending, and no accountability when things go wrong. These are the consequences.
No Checks. No Balances.
When one party controls every lever of government, there is no opposition to slow bad policy. Mistakes go uncorrected. Spending goes unaudited.
Defying the Voters
72% of Massachusetts voters approved auditing the state legislature. Beacon Hill refused to comply and had the case dismissed.
Migrants First, Residents Second
Massachusetts is spending nearly $3,500 per week per migrant family on emergency shelter — money never voted on, coming directly out of the same budget that funds our schools and roads.
Your Town Taxes Up
Unfunded state mandates force towns like Scituate to override Proposition 2½ and raise your property taxes — while Beacon Hill directs billions toward migrant shelter and programs riddled with fraud and waste.
Residents Are Leaving
Massachusetts lost a net 33,000 residents to other states in 2025 alone — 6th worst nationally. Since 2020, 182,000 have left. Those departing skew younger and higher-earning.
The Answer Starts Locally
Electing Republicans to school committees, select boards, and state legislature seats creates accountability and produces better outcomes for all residents.
Governor's Record
Governor Healey's Record: Promises vs. Reality
A UMass/WCVB poll found 56% of MA residents say Healey has not handled the housing crisis well. 52% say she hasn't handled the migrant crisis well. After four years in office, the results speak for themselves.
FAILING
Housing Crisis
56% of MA residents say Healey has not handled the housing crisis well. Rents have skyrocketed. The MBTA zoning mandate forces high-density housing on towns like Scituate without resident consent.
FAILING
Migrant Spending $1B+
Over $1 billion spent on emergency migrant shelter with no-bid contracts and costs quietly shifted to other programs. A scathing 74-page audit found systemic procurement failures throughout the shelter program.
FAILING
Transparency & Accountability
When the State Auditor tried to audit the Legislature, Healey's AG moved to dismiss the case. 72% of voters demanded accountability. The administration helped shut the door on them.
FAILING
Energy Costs & Cost of Living
Massachusetts energy costs are among the highest in the nation and rising. Working families and small businesses are bearing the burden with no relief in sight.
